Mexican director, Roberto Aguilera recently joined Garage Films. His 30 years experience in the industry has bestowed on him a global production vision and many awards, including the one conferred by the Mexican Senate for directors with great international career. He received it in 2009 for his short film {9 y 20;http://www.robertoaguilera.com.mx/videos/shortfilm9y20.mp4}. “I went around the world with this short film, it participated in many festivals” he told PRODU. “It was surprising for me. I felt amazing among such group of directors, Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro González Iñarritu and Guillermo Cuarón. This acknowledgment proves that if you believe in your work and do it with affection, things will turn out right.” The director feels very comfortable in Garage Films. “Fermín Vilanova is an incredible guy. He believes in my work and this is the most important thing for me, he recognizes the talent in his team. I feel real empathy and mutual professional respect.” Aguilera keeps on working in traditional advertising but he is increasingly exploring with content. He confessed that it would be great to bump into more brave clients that understand that the most important thing is quality. For now I think that content made by brands ends up feeling like advertising and we already are at the other side. Advertising is still very afraid of taking risks. Fort Aguilera the Hispanic market has had an evolution. It has been earning its own voice but lacks Latinos cunning” he said. “Some clients are too square-minded.”
